- In early Victorian times, beer rather than wine, was generally drunk with dinner.
12 x 500ml bottles: Abbey is an amber-coloured, full-flavoured ale. The edges of the Challenger and Northern Brewer hops are balanced by the smooth malty richness of the barley. A King's stone's throw from the brewery door lies Tintern Abbey, built in the 12th century. It was the second Cistercian foundation in Britain and the first in Wales. Having fallen into ruin in the 16th century, the romance of the bosky location and decaying grandure nevertheless provided inspiration for William Wordsworth and J.M.W. Turner. Time seems to have left the romance and beauty of the Wye Valley undimmed in the eyes of Nigel Richardson's 'Still the riverside of the Romantics'
